Training Diversity in communication and educational styles

 

Content:
The training Diversity in Communication and Educational Styles provides participants with background knowledge and skills for effective communication with parents from various cultural backgrounds. Themes to be treated are:

  • Verbal and non-verbal opportunities in communication with parents and child
  • (Cultural) differences and  similarities in understandings about and perception of sickness and health
  • (Cultural) differences and similarities in educational ideals and practices.
  • The role of the pediatrician, health centre nurses and families
  • Reflecting on personal values, understandings and care-possibilities

For whom:
Pediatricians and nurses at Health Centres or Centres for Youth and Families

Size and duration:
Per participant, the time investment amounts to 10-15 hrs, i.e. individual preparatory assignment, training meeting (with teacher), interim assignment, second group meeting (with teacher and actor) and a certifying assignment. The running time varies between 1-3 months.

Specific issues:
Dates are set  in common agreement; the training takes place  in a location belonging to the client, unless otherwise agreed.  Accreditation for the training can be applied for.
Size of group and participation costs
The basic package for a 12-15 participants’ group amounts to 2200 euro, but the training can be extended or reduced, too.

Training Cultural diversity upon end of life

 

Content:
The training Cultural diversity upon end of life provides participants with background knowledge and skills for effective communication with gravely ill patients and their family. Themes to be treated are:

  • Verbal and non-verbal opportunities in the communication with the patient and his/her family
  • Various understandings concerning illness, the approaching end of life and communication in this respect.
  • Triad conversations and dealing with care-management groups
  • Points of interest in case of pain, depression, sickness and throwing up, obstipation and delirium

For whom
GPs, nurses, care-providers in palliative care.
Size and duration:
Per participant the time-investment amounts to10-15 hrs, i.e.  individual preparatory assignment, training meeting (with teacher), interim assignment, second group meeting (with teacher and actor) and certifying assignment. The running time varies between 1-3 months

Training Customer-oriented working


Content:
The training Customer-oriented Working provides participants with background knowledge and skills for effectively asking customers for advice,  evaluation of customer contacts and learning from possible conflicts. Themes to be treated are:

  • Listening to customers, learning from collisions
  • Translating problems into research questions and advice questions for customers
  • Dealing with advice
  • Systematical and accessible description of work experiences.

For whom:
Nurses, care-providers and staff
Per participant the time investment amounts to10-15 hrs, i.e.  individual preparatory assignment, training meeting (with teacher), interim assignment, second group meeting (with teacher and actor) and certifying assignment. The running time varies between 1-3 months

Training Interculturalization of care

 

Content:
The training Interculturalization of care provides participants with background knowledge and skills for the effective interculturalization of the primary process of care providing.  Themes to be treated are:

  • Recognizing one’s own company  culture and professional culture
  • Pointing out ‘strange questions’
  • Interaction with different patients and their family
  • Providing culture-sensitive information and advice
  • Stimulating colleagues towards intercultural approach of care and care policy.

For whom:
Nurses, care-providers and staff
Size and duration:
Per participant, the time investment amounts to 20-30 hrs,i.e. 4 training meetings (of which one with actor) and interim assignments, The running time is 2-4 months
Specific issues:
The dates are set in common agreement; the training takes place in a location belonging to the client, unless otherwise agreed. Accreditation for the training can be applied for.
Size of group and participation costs
The basic package for a 10-15 participant group costs  4400 euro, but the training can be extended or reduced.
